Delete Your Topitan Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Topitan account and what happens to your data.

If you can sign in to your account

  1. Open the Topitan app (or the web app at https://topitan.com) and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Select a reason, confirm your password (and username, on web), and submit.

If you can't sign in

If you've lost access to your account, uninstalled the app, or otherwise can't sign in, email support@topitan.com from the email address on the account (or with whatever proof of ownership you have) and ask us to delete it. We'll verify your identity and process the request manually.

What happens after you request deletion

  • Your account is deactivated immediately and becomes invisible to other users.
  • You have a 30-day grace period to change your mind — simply log back in and your account is fully restored, no separate action needed.
  • After the 30-day grace period, we permanently anonymize your account: your name, contact details, and profile information are removed or irreversibly de-identified.
  • Your videos, comments, and other user-generated content are deleted at that point too, unless specific content is subject to an active legal hold (for example, a law-enforcement request or a content moderation investigation), in which case only that content is retained until the hold is lifted.
  • Financial and compliance records (transaction history, KYC documents) are retained for 7 years from the date of the relevant transaction, in de-identified/restricted form where legally permissible, as required by Kenya's POCAMLA and related financial regulations. This data is used only for regulatory compliance and legal defense, never for any other purpose.
